Recipes for Ground Turkey Meatballs

If you are tired of Beef Meatballs and looking for something healthier, try these Recipes for Ground Turkey Meatballs.  I change up the recipe two different ways and both are delicious. It really depends on what I have available.

The difference between the two is whether or not I have Spinach & Parmesan Cheese and on hand.  I like to add spinach for additional nutritional benefits and flavor.  Just like any kind of meatball they are delicious served with pasta, as a sandwich, or by themselves.

These super moist Recipes for Ground Turkey Meatballs are one of my family’s favorite meals.  It’s a meal we have at least twice a month.  It only takes 15 minutes to cook in the Pressure Cookers so I prep the ground turkey the night before so it makes for a quick after-work meal.

What is Ground Turkey?

Ground Turkey is Turkey meat ground or minced.  Depending on the lean percentage Ground Turkey includes dark, light meat and skin.  Just like Ground Beef, Ground Turkey is available in different lean percentages.

The difference is you will find Ground Turkey usually in a 95% lean 5% fat, for this recipe I used an 85% lean 15% fat because that is what I had.  I’ve also have made it with 95% lean 5% fat and it’s still moist and delicious.

Is Ground Turkey Better Than Ground Beef?

In some ways, Ground Turkey is much better than Ground Beef, but it’s really a matter of opinion.  I enjoy them both very much but like to limit my red meat intake due to high cholesterol.  So, if you are watching your cholesterol, I would choose Ground Turkey over Ground Beef.

Yes, Ground Turkey is a little healthier meat and can be used in burgers, tacos, chili, or meatballs.  Ground Turkey is lower in fat, high in protein, and low in calories.  Change it up and give these Recipes for Ground Turkey Meatballs a try.

How to Cook Ground Turkey?

The leaner the meat the less fat it has to keep it moist. Ground Turkey must be cooked to an internal temperature of 165° for it to be fully cooked.  If you overcook Ground Turkey it will become dry, be sure to check the temperature with a cooking thermometer.

Just like with Ground Beef don’t overwork it when forming the meatball or burgers.  The meat should be loosely holding itself together, if you form a firm meatball, it will become dense and dry, and we don’t want that to happen.

The benefit of cooking these Recipes for Ground Turkey Meatballs in the Pressure Cooker is it keeps the meatballs moist while cooking in the sauce.

PRESSURE COOKER TIP:  Be sure to add 1 cup of water before adding in the pasta sauce and Turkey Meatballs.  If you don’t the Pressure Cooker will turn off if it starts to burn on the bottom.  I’ve made this mistake a couple of times and it’s not easy to clean the Pressure Cooker.

The Secret Behind Tender Turkey Meatballs

Ground Turkey or Ground Chicken can become tough and dry when using in meatballs.  The Secret Behind Tender Turkey Meatballs are:

  • Include finely chopped ingredients in the mixture.  Adding one or two of these ingredients will add space in between the meat and not allow it to get so firm.  Adding chopped ingredients like onions, grated cheese, parsley, spinach,  peppers, breadcrumbs, etc.
  • When forming Turkey Meatballs go easy on them, you are just forming the shape. DO NOT roll them for too long or too tight they will turn out tough.
  • Meatballs should be a little larger than a golf ball, or about 1 inch in size.

Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • Jumbo Pasta Shells
  • Sliced Pepperoni

  • Ricotta Cheese
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Garlic
  • Basil Leaves
  • Dried Oregano or Italian Seasoning

However, I’d like to make the stuffed shells in a shorter period of time and still have a delicious meal. By using the Pressure Cooker, it shortens cooking time to only 10 minutes.

And you don’t have to cook the Stuffed Shells before stuffing.  Put the Ricotta Cheese mixture right in the uncooked store-bought shells.  You can prep the Stuffed Shells Recipes with Ricotta Cheese the night before for a quick meal the next day.

This recipe makes approximately 12-16 stuffed shells. I’ll make half the Stuffed Shells with pepperoni, and the other half are just cheese filled.

Chicken Cacciatore in Instant Pot

Chicken Cacciatore in Instant Pot is an appetizing version of the Italian Classic made easy and full of rich flavor. It’s a meal that can be made in one pot.

If you’re pressed for time! This is a simple yet nutritious meal the whole family will enjoy.

The word “Cacciatore” means hunter in Italian. Which refers to a meal prepared “hunter-style” with onions, herbs, tomatoes, and often bell peppers.  Let’s not forget the wine!

The aroma that permeates in the air will have you watching the countdown on the digital timer on the Pressure Cooker with great anticipation for a delicious meal. Cooking this in the Pressure Cooker does two things, it makes the chicken tender and juicy and it only takes 30 minutes to cook.

How to Make Chicken Cacciatore in Instant Pot?

Chop the peppers and onion into small pieces or into strips.  I used my Food Chopper which I love and makes for easy chopping.  Sauté the peppers and onions in the Pressure Cooker by choosing the sauté button but do not put the lid on.

After peppers and onion are sauté add in the mushrooms and garlic and mix.  Mix the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste together in a small bowl.  Add the wine and chicken to the Pressure Cooker and pour tomato mixture on top of chicken.

Place the lid on the Pressure Cooker and choose the Poultry button and change Pressure to Low. (check your Pressure Cooker manual to adjust level) Set time to 30 minutes.

Italian Chicken Cacciatore is a comfort meal for me.  It’s tasty delicious and easy to make.  Everyone needs at least one classic Italian dish included in their recipe collection, and this is it!

Grab a bottle of red wine, such as Chianti Classico or American Chardonnay. Grab Your Favorite Wine from Wine of the Month Club.

What type of Chicken should you use?

Any kind!  I prefer breast meat, but you can use any part of the chicken you enjoy the most.  Chicken wings, thighs, drumsticks, or breast all will work with this recipe. It’s best if you remove the skin from the chicken first before you cook it.  It will decrease the amount of grease and oil in the dish.

Side Dish for Chicken Cacciatore

Chicken Cacciatore in Instant Pot is an overall delicious Italian dish but sometimes a little side dish goes a long way.  Here are some Side Dish Ideas.

  • Garlic Bread is great for dipping

Pressure Cook Corned Beef Brisket

Pressure Cook Corned Beef Brisket this St. Patricks Day and save yourself hours of waiting. Flat Cut Seasoned Corned Beef Brisket is a salt-cured beef product.

The term comes from the treatment of the meat with large grained rock salt.  The brisket part of beef is tough and that is why it needs to be cured with salt to tenderize it.

When cooking a Brisket depending on how you are cooking it, it can take anywhere between 2 to 7 hours. Unless you cook it in a Pressure Cooker is only takes 90 minutes.  Now that is a big time-saver for sure!  Corned Beef Brisket has a salty, spicy, beef flavor so NO salt is needed.

St Patrick Day Meal Ideas

Corned Beef is a traditional meal served with cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day.  It is an Irish American twist on the more traditional meal salted pork.

The traditional meat on St. Patrick’s Day was cured salt pork, which was bacon, but that became too expensive.  So, the closest substitute the Irish immigrants could afford and find in the U.S. was Corned Beef.

Why not complete this traditional Irish meal by adding boiled potatoes and cabbage? Want to boil potatoes in a faster manner? Try cooking them in a Pressure Cooker to save time if you’re in a rush.

Looking for something to wash it down with? You cannot go wrong with a few pints of Guinness.

How to Pressure Cook Corned Beef Brisket

We used a simple Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning for ours. There are many types of Corned Beef Brisket seasons on the market.  One ingredient you shouldn’t add is salt.  Corned Beef Brisket usually comes with a seasoning package that you can use if you like.

Make sure you put in liquid, like beef broth to keep the brisket moist while cooking.  You can also substitute the beef broth with some Guinness beer, which will make a huge difference in taste.

Sausage Peppers Onions Recipe

This Sausage Peppers Onions Recipe is cooked in a Pressure Cooker it’s a relatively simple and quick meal to prepare.

What Kind of Sausage to Use?

We used Sweet Italian Sausage for this recipe, but you can use mild or hot sausage as well. Sometimes I will add a Hot Pepper to the Pressure Cooker to give it that sweet and spicy taste.

Check out the Hot Corner article for the Scoville Scale of Hotness.

Turkey Sausage can also be used as a substitute instead of Italian Sausage making this meal a bit healthier.

How to Serve Sausage Peppers Onions Recipe

The sausage turns out very tender; you could cut it with a fork easily. This is a great meal that goes well with any type of pasta, add garlic bread and the meal is complete. Sausage, Peppers, and Onions are a great way to start a fine Italian meal.

This is also great to just put on a long roll and enjoy as a Sausage Peppers and Onions sandwich. Add a slice of mozzarella or provolone cheese to the roll first and then put the Sausage, Peppers, and Onions on top to melt the cheese.  It’s Delicious!

I remember working downtown in my city and getting a Sausage, Pepper, and Onion sandwich for lunch off the lunch cart. They are always so delicious.

Storing Leftovers

This is a simple inexpensive meal that goes a long way and there’s usually leftovers.  Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Warm up in the microwave for about 2 minutes depending on how much you have left, and lunch or dinner is served again.

Our family enjoys this meal so much we have it in our meal planner at least once a month.  It’s one of those comfy meals when you need one.

  • Chuck Roast
  • Eye Round Roast
  • Top Round Roast
  • Rump Roast
  • Sirloin Tip Roast

For this recipe, we cooked a Top Round Roast and it was delicious!  One of my favorite places to purchase a roast from is Omaha Steaks.  They have great deals and the food is delicious, but that is for another post.

Whatever kind of Roast it is it doesn’t have to be complicated to cook.  We are going to share How to Cook a Beef Roast in less than an hour.

How to Cook a Beef Roast 45 Minutes

We’ve made Beef Roast in the oven and CrockPots/Slow Cooker for years and it always turned out so delicious.  It is great if you planned ahead but there are those days you just don’t have 2 hours to wait for dinner.

This is when we take out our Pressure Cooker and cooked a Beef Roast in less than an hour.  Yes, it’s true you can enjoy a delicious, moist, and tender Beef Roast in 45 minutes well done.  If you like your roast a medium done it would take less time.

If you don’t own a Pressure Cooker you should consider getting one for your kitchen.  You can find them at Amazon for a great price without running around to different retailers to find the one you want.

You will wonder how you lived without it.

How to Cook a Pot Roast in a Pressure Cooker

When cooking with a Pressure Cooker one of my favorite things is to cook the whole meal in one pot. It makes for easy cooking and easy cleanup.

The Pressure Cooker cuts down on cooking time but doesn’t lose any of the flavors of your food.  The meat doesn’t come out chewy or dry, it’s actually the opposite, the roast is easily shredded and moist while the potatoes and carrots are very tender.

We are all very busy in life with careers and family and don’t always have time to cook a healthy delicious meal. Unless you own a Pressure Cooker, then you don’t need much time to cook.

Cooking a Beef Roast

We seasoned our Top Round Roast with garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and rosemary but you can get creative and add in any other seasoning you like.

The thing that makes our Beef Roast different is we use beef broth and beef gravy.  What this does is thins out the gravy a little bit which is the way we like it.

But, if you like a thicker or thinner sauce you can use either five cups of beef broth or five cups of beef gravy, the choice is yours.

Quick Easy Meatballs Recipe

One So you have a craving for Meatballs tonight for dinner, but there isn’t enough time to cook them in your Crockpot.  Get out your Pressure Cooker and in 30 minutes you will have tasty, juicy, delicious, moist Meatballs that taste as you cooked them all day.

Yep, it is true you can make fresh Homemade Meatballs in the Pressure Cooker. Create our Meatball Recipe but instead of cooking in the Slow Cooker/Crockpot just place them in your Pressure Cooker

I know it sounds a little crazy, but I have been doing them this way for years.  The first time I tried it I was worried the meatball might shrink up too much, but they really don’t.

One night after work I was really in the mood for some meatballs, I would typically cook them in a Slow Cooker all day.  But I didn’t have that kind of time for this night so I tried it in the Pressure Cooker and they turned out Delicious.

PRESSURE COOKER TIP:  Even though you are putting in a sauce/gravy you still should add some water to the bottom of the Pressure Cooker.  Otherwise, the sauce/gravy will burn on the bottom.  The sauce/gravy gets a little thin in the Pressure Cooker so if you like a thick sauce/gravy make an extra pan of it.

Enjoy Meatballs and Pasta or how about a delicious Meatball Sandwich or Meatballs and garlic bread.  A great addition to any Italian meal, the family will keep coming back for more.

Pressure Cooker Meatballs

They are also great to make if you decide last minute to have friends and family over to watch the big game. These are great party food because you make a lot all at once and they are fun.

Crowds will enjoy them for any kind of special occasion baby shower, bridal shower, football games, gratulations parties, and even birthday parties.   Meatballs are definitely a crowd-pleaser.

One of the best parts of cooking Meatballs in the Pressure Cooker, there is no splashing of pasta sauce.  The lid is tightly set and you don’t open it until they are done.  No Mess there.  They are definitely an Italian Comfort Food at any time of the year.

When you are a Pressure Cooker junkie like we are you can create lots of flavorful meals.

Drain 1 – 15 oz. can of corn place it on top of the chopped-up Ham. Cover the corn with mashed potatoes to the top of your casserole dish.

Cook for about 1 hour at 375 degrees until the top is a little golden brown.  This is definitely a family-pleaser recipe and you can use up the leftovers without wasting food.

If you want to add some green vegetables to this meal just switch the 1 can of corn for a 1 can of peas.  It turns out just as enjoyable.
